Bringing Deep Sea to the Surface: Blueye's HubSpot Custom Quote Theme

That's why we were excited to work with Blueye, a company specializing in underwater drones, to build a custom quote theme for them, using HubSpot’s platform. This case study will take you through the process of creating a custom quote theme, from understanding client’s needs to implementing solutions that resulted in a customized and efficient quote process.


The Why and Needs of Blueye:

Blueye was facing a common problem in the sales process: their quotes were not standing out from the competition.They were using the default quote theme provided by HubSpot, which left them with a generic, unbranded look. What they wanted was to bring their professional brand image to the surface by creating a personalized quote template for their sales team, with a design that would reflect their company's specialty in underwater drones, as well as their brand identity.

Starting Point:

The project began with a meeting with Blueye, aiming to understand their needs and wishes. There they provided us with a design mockup that outlined the look and feel of what they wanted for their custom quote theme, as well as all the features they needed to streamline their sales process. Next, as HubSpot allows for the use of their default quote theme templates, our HubSpot-certificated developers used it as a starting point for creating the custom quote theme, gaining a great understanding of how it works, by which part it is composed, and how to customize it in the most efficient way. 


During the entire process, our developer’s team focused mainly on the following task:

  • Create new modules from scratch based on the client’s needs
  • Improve the existing one with more customization options
  • Personalize the quote based on deal properties, through the use of associated object and new custom properties
  • Enrich the styling possibilities within the theme settings and module settings
  • Customize the print and download version


Focusing on user experience and mobile optimization, we leveraged HubSpot's features such as custom fields, custom properties and modules to create a fully functional and user-friendly quote theme that seamlessly integrated with Blueye's sales process. 

In particular, some of the new modules created, aim to support and better explain Blueye’s vision and mission, as you can see in the image below.

At the same time, others aim to increase cross-selling opportunities, like the “Other relevant products” section in the image below.

This can lead to improved productivity and faster quote turnaround times, as well as to streamline their sales process.
  • Personalization: As the custom quote theme can be customized to meet the unique requirements of individual clients, they might be more likely to accept the quote and move forward with the sale.
  • Print and download versions: The new custom quote theme is built to include the ability to print and download quotes designed as desired, making the quote process more efficient for both the sales team and the client.
